Maybe Brian thinks if he spins hard enough, the thumbs down will reverse?

As of this post, the numbers are 415 ratings, 126 thumbs-up, 289 thumbs down. #FAIL

This is an open thread for the evening. We at Courage are fast preparing for tomorrow’s vote. See you in the morning -Adam

Brian Brown begins his latest email blast with the following line:

NOM’s new ad, “The Ironic Steve Jobs,” has been launched on YouTube–the great counterrevolution has begun!

Only problem for Brian? It’s the ad itself being countered in this supposed YouTube revolution, by a whopping 2-1 margin:

It’s a hit, alright. Another hit to NOM’s credibility.

Thumbs-down to the vid. I’d leave a comment but it says I need to update my Firefox, and as far as I know I’ve got the latest version. Hm…

I still laugh about them thinking that young people would give a $#@! about the Manhattan Declaration. Are they that isolated that they don’t realize that a long statement of doctrine written by a bunch of irrelevant old guys is in the seriously “uncool” category? I have a lot of hope if this is the best they can come up with to reach younger people

That would be rich on a video page that complains about censorship. :)

Full of ridiculous spin, such as the meme that the left wing controls the media and that the SPLC had no basis for calling out certain anti-equality groups, without bothering to address the specifics of their charges.

Also full of NOM-like arguments about the importance of bringing men and women together for procreation, and that we are “attacking religion” and “driving it underground”.

To sum up: ridiculous blather, we’ve heard it all before.

Andrew Sullivan implied that there are more divorces than there are gay people… so why doesn’t the Catholic church pursue that threat to marriage?

Probably because the Church demands a bribe from the couple in order to annul the marriage, Ray. Can’t stop *that* revenue stream, can they?

Isn’t it amazing that the very ones who are themselves censoring comments on their blog when those comments go against what they want on their property pull a BMW when another American exercises their own rights when it comes to their property. NOM won’t let anyone post comments on their blog (NOM property) that go against their ideology, yet they want to cry when Steve Jobs pulls an offensive, discriminatory application from the Apple online store (Apple’s property, ergo, Steve Jobs’ property). All I can say to NOM is you folks really need to grow up, put on your big girl panties, deal with it and GET OVER YOURSELVES! You are not the arbiters of what someone else can sell in their business. You want the Manhattan Declaration do badly, post it yourselves!

“According to the AP, it would take just a majority vote in the Republican-led state legislature to approve impeachment, but a two-thirds vote in the state Senate, which is controlled by Democrats.”

Like the marriage amendment, this is an uphill challenge in Iowa… thank goodness.

What idiots. These are the first people who shout out, “PEOPLE SHOULDN’T BE FORCED TO GIVE UP THEIR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS AND SERVE PEOPLE WHO HAVE LIFESTYLES THEY DISAGREE WITH!” They usually are talking about the “right” of a “Christian” business to deny services to a gay, lesbian, trans, or other “sinner”.

So when someone denies service to the false “Christians?” Suddenly it’s discrimination. As a Christian, NOM’s hypocracy sickens me.

What if this *was* steve jobs plan? Let the app in, knowing full well that ppl would bitch, then remove it, garnering the admiration of people who support equality. Not only is it a brilliant marketing move (lots of young people love their apple products)….it is also the morally correct thing to support equality.
